nSIM

Neurostimulation Induced Medicine

Introducing a new neurophysiology

control system.

NSTIM is developing new ways to integrate signals of the parasympathetic nervous system with the brain. Our technology is designed to trigger life-saving neuroprotection mechanisms on demand using therapeutic electrical stimulation. In its first-generation, the nSIM devices are fit for use during surgery.

Innovative Technology to Advance Stroke Care

Stimulating Cranial Connections for Neuroprotection

Brain_Fibers_edited_edited_edited.png

At NSTIM, we are engineering a novel neuromodulation system intended to provide protective electrical stimulation during acute stroke care.

The devastating long-term debilitation caused by stroke registers over ~140,000 deaths and more than 185,000 recurrent strokes cases in the U.S. alone yearly. The majority of the stroke survivors remain severely attached to the rehabilitation care system. Management of the brain’s physiologic and metabolic crisis is largely ineffective due to the blunt and fluctuating nature of medications. Importantly, many homeostatic functions of the brain and peripheral organs are programmed within the autonomic nervous system become naturally deregulated after injury.

Electrical stimulation is reportedly neuroprotective, outcompeting pharmacological approaches and ultimately leading to reduced stroke volume and neural injury.

We designed a new functional neurostimulation device that fits seamlessly within the standard-of-care for severe stroke because it is pre-embedded on the patient intubation accessories - the nSIM device. nSIM delivers controlled functional stimulation through the recurrent laryngeal nerve non invasively.

nSIM Therapy stands for neuro stimulation-induced molecular therapy, a novel neuroprotective approach.

Brain Control Regained During Surgery

At NSTIM, we are working to optimize functional neuroprotective stimulation during acute stroke care and beyond, ultimately aiming to spare brain damage in all patients in need of surgery.

In early safety studies with nSIM, we have measured regain of cerebral blood flow control during life-saving surgical procedures.

With continued nSIM therapy, we measured restoring cardiovascular soothing throughout surgery.

Applying paced nSIM therapy, we detected stabilization of blood flow variation.

nSIM Therapy is a well designed technology to save patients in critical need from loosing their human side.
